Bitcoin set for key volatility as July PCE, Nvidia earnings loom
CoinDesk highlighted July PCE, Nvidia's quarterly results, and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole remarks as the next drivers for bitcoin after it pulled back under $79,000.
Bitcoin’s next move is set to hinge on three macro and market events this week, with investors watching inflation data, major tech earnings, and Fed commentary for signals on rates, according to CoinDesk’s Daybook newsletter.
First up is July U.S. personal consumption expenditures (PCE) at 8:30 a.m. ET. FactSet forecasts call for core PCE of 3.2% year over year and 0.18% month over month, after 3.3% and 0.13% in June, and CoinDesk warned that a hotter print could renew concerns that the Fed may raise rates.
CoinDesk also pointed to Nvidia’s second-quarter earnings, due after market hours Wednesday, as a potential risk mood-setter for broader markets. It cited a largely positive 90-day rolling correlation between bitcoin and Nvidia, with values above 0.5 since early 2025, and noted that a strong result could ease concerns tied to AI debt-fueled capital expenditure spending.
On Friday, attention will shift to Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s speech at the Jackson Hole Symposium. CoinDesk said traders will look for clues following the U.S. Treasury secretary’s plan to boost buybacks of longer-duration bonds, as markets try to gauge the path for yields and the Fed’s stance.
