Bitcoin steadies near $79,000 as traders take profits after rally

CryptoQuant says its Bull Score jumped to 80, while XRP slid more than 4% despite leading weekly gains of nearly 45%.

Bitcoin slipped nearly 1% to around $79,000 in Asian trading Wednesday as traders took profits following a 23% weekly rally, according to CoinDesk.

Most major cryptocurrencies declined over the last 24 hours, with XRP dropping over 4% to just above $1.44 but still up almost 45% for the week. Zcash fell nearly 6% to just above $783 while keeping a roughly 55% weekly gain after a dedicated spot ETF went live in the US.

Ether eased to just under $2,465, down more than 1% on the day, while weekly gains remained near 29%. Solana fell over 3% to just under $97 and Tron slipped about 3% to about 34 cents, while BNB was down nearly 2% to just over $695 and Hyperliquid’s HYPE was the only major gainer, up almost 3% on the day and nearly 40% on the week.

CryptoQuant’s Bull Score rose from 30 to 80 over the week, its highest reading since October 2025, with eight of 10 indicators now bullish. The firm attributed the shift to expanding spot and futures demand, which it said grew at the fastest monthly pace since late December, as Asian stocks rose on lower oil prices.
