Builders FirstSource invests $25.3 million in AI workflow platform Digs
The company will integrate Digs’ AI document platform into its digital ecosystem, linking plans, specs, selections, and project history across the construction, closing, and warranty process.
Builders FirstSource is investing $25.3 million in Digs, an AI-powered construction workflow platform, to deepen its role in builders’ end-to-end operating processes, HousingWire reports. Builders FirstSource is the sole lead investor in Digs’ Series A funding round.
The partnership will integrate Digs’ AI document platform into Builders FirstSource’s digital ecosystem to connect plans, specs, selections, and project history. The goal is to speed up takeoffs, reduce manual work, and improve workflows for homeowners and warranty processes.
HousingWire notes the effort comes as homebuilders work to defend productivity and margins amid a slower new-home market and affordability-constrained demand. Builders are seeking shorter cycle times and lower costs, while Builders FirstSource continues its push to evolve beyond distributing building products into a more embedded operating partner.
Digs’ platform uses AI to organize fragmented construction and ownership data, including plans, specifications, selections, approvals, product information, warranties, and related conversations. Under a five-year commercial agreement, the companies aim to create a more connected workflow from design and estimating through construction, closing, and homeownership.
