Kalmbach Feeds acquires Mennel’s Upper Sandusky grain elevator
The deal gives Kalmbach access to a rail transload facility with nearly 2 million bushels of licensed upright storage served by CSX.
Kalmbach Feeds, a family-owned animal nutrition and feed manufacturer, has acquired the C&O grain elevator and rail transload facility in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, from The Mennel Milling Co., with financial terms not disclosed.
World Grain reports the acquisition, announced Aug. 28, expands Kalmbach’s direct access to local grain and strengthens its broader investments across feed, pet food, and ingredient manufacturing and distribution.
The facility includes extensive storage for corn, soybeans, and wheat, plus high-capacity unit-car rail transloading capabilities. According to Sosland Publishing Co.’s 2026 Grain & Milling Annual, the location has nearly 2 million bushels of licensed upright storage and is served by the CSX railroad.
World Grain also reports that Green Acres Milling is set to begin operating an oat mill with production capacity of 39,420 tonnes, or 869,062 cwts, of finished oat products per year, and that a feature on the company’s new facility will appear in the September issue.
