Emergence Insurance launches US operation with Australian cyber model

The Sydney-based cyber underwriter will focus on small and mid-sized organizations, where uptake for cyber insurance remains thin.

Emergence Insurance has launched a United States operation, bringing an Australian-developed cyber underwriting and incident response model into the largest insurance market.

The agency said Emergence U.S. will target small and mid-sized organizations, a segment where cyber insurance take-up remains limited. Its CEO and founder, Troy Filipcevic, said cyber risk is now part of everyday operating risk, but many organizations still lack dedicated cyber insurance because they view it as complex or hard to access.

Emergence’s approach combines underwriting with embedded risk services and in-house incident response, an integrated structure the company says is more common among Australian cyber agencies than in the United States.

Emergence U.S. will be led by Keith Savino, a 37-year industry veteran and former managing partner and national cyber practice leader at Trucordia. Savino has also held leadership roles across independent agency standards bodies, and Emergence described the US expansion as agent-focused and aimed at the independent agency channel.
