ACG Metals begins producing first copper concentrate at Turkey mine
The company produced the first copper concentrate on budget and aims to reach steady-state production of 40,000 tonnes of copper annually by the end of 2026.
ACG Metals has produced its first copper concentrate from its Gediktepe mine in Turkey, marking the start of the site’s shift from precious metals and zinc toward copper output, according to Mining.com.
The company said it produced the concentrate on budget and is targeting full production by the end of 2026. Once the mine reaches steady state, ACG Metals plans annual production of 40,000 tonnes of copper.
Gediktepe has moved into a ramp-up phase focused on increasing throughput and optimizing plant performance, with the goal of delivering consistent concentrate quality as recoveries improve. ACG Metals chairman and chief executive Artem Volynets said the priority is a disciplined ramp-up toward steady-state production.
Mining.com also noted that the mine was previously a single-stream gold, silver and zinc operation. The shift to copper is tied to rising global demand, including drivers such as AI and electrification.
