HomeServices of America launches in-house mortgage servicing via Prosperity

The move is intended to keep homebuyer and real estate agent relationships within the same ecosystem after closing to reduce leakage to third-party servicers.

HomeServices of America is expanding into mortgage servicing through its wholly owned lender, Prosperity Home Mortgage, as part of an effort to deepen its “complete real estate experience” from home search through the life of the loan, HousingWire reports.

The company says the in-house servicing unit is designed to help it extend consumer and agent relationships after closing and reduce business drifting to third-party servicers.

In remarks to HousingWire, CEO Chris Kelly said the firm is pursuing the strategy because mortgage servicing has increasingly moved upstream, with mortgage companies seeking to capture homebuyer and seller clients before they start browsing for homes on online portals.

Kelly also framed the launch against broader industry consolidation, noting that over the past 18 months more firms have strengthened lead generation by acquiring related platforms and ecosystems, HousingWire reports.
