Bitcoin spot ETF flows swing again as altcoin ETF inflows break
On Wednesday, spot Ethereum ETFs saw about $48.0 million in net outflows, ending a 12-day inflow streak that had pulled in roughly $1.62 billion.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs returned to inflows on Wednesday after a choppy pattern of switching between buying and selling, extending a recent four-session cycle, according to CryptoSlate using SoSoValue data. The funds attracted $101.2 million on Sept. 2 after losing $236.5 million a day earlier, following $216.7 million in inflows on Aug. 31 and $201.9 million in withdrawals on Aug. 28.
Bitcoin’s price action has tracked the same uneven tone, with BTC closing Aug. 27 around $80,268 before dropping to $77,821 the next day, recovering to $78,553 on Aug. 31, and slipping toward $77,300 by Sept. 2. CryptoSlate also notes that Bitcoin ETFs have still attracted more than $3 billion in fresh capital over the past 30 days, helping BTC rise 22% over that reporting period.
While Bitcoin kept flipping between inflows and outflows, CryptoSlate reports the altcoin side looked cleaner until it changed on Wednesday. Spot Ethereum ETFs recorded about $48.0 million in net outflows, snapping 12 consecutive trading days of inflows, with that streak having pulled in roughly $1.62 billion and pushing cumulative net inflows to about $13.03 billion before the reversal.
XRP and Solana ETFs also turned negative on Wednesday, with XRP posting $7.2 million of withdrawals after 11 straight inflow sessions and Solana recording about $6.0 million of outflows after an 11-session inflow streak. CryptoSlate says newer products did not offset the pullback, with Hyperliquid, BNB, and several other altcoin ETF groups showing zero net flows, and that Wednesday’s reversals were small relative to the prior accumulation, particularly for ETH.
