Dongbei Chinese Restaurant signs 15-year lease at 63 Cooper Square

The 2,000-square-foot East Village space carries an asking rent of $21,600 per month under a 15-year lease.

Dongbei Chinese Restaurant & Bar is expanding in New York City with a new site at 63 Cooper Square in the East Village, Commercial Observer reports.

The Northern Chinese dining concept has signed a 2,000-square-foot lease for the midblock ground-floor space, owned by Matthew Rettner, with asking rent set at $21,600 per month.

Meridian Capital Group, which represented the landlord, said Cooper Square has limited turnover and that the landlord wanted a turnkey restaurant that could operate quickly, citing Dongbei’s operating history as part of the recommendation.

Commercial Observer adds that the new location is Dongbei’s fourth New York City site and its fifth overall, following three Manhattan locations at 953 Columbus Avenue, 367 West 36th Street, and 17 Ann Street, plus a planned expansion in New Jersey.

Meridian Capital Group’s Daniel Zacaim said Dongbei’s growth consistency and momentum helped drive a smooth, fast negotiation, with KSR handling negotiations for the tenant.
