Troilus Mining boosts Troilus project economics to $3.2B NPV

Troilus Mining said its initial capital estimate is about $1.43 billion and it targets first ore in September 2029 before commercial production in March 2030.

Troilus Mining said an updated technical report for its copper-gold project in Quebec, Canada, has more than tripled the mine’s estimated value, lifting after-tax net present value to $3.2 billion.

The company’s base-case economics assume long-term prices of $3,600 per ounce for gold, $5 per pound for copper and $50 per ounce for silver, with a 22% after-tax internal rate of return, a 3.6-year payback period and a 26-year operating life, according to a company statement cited by Mining.com.

The updated study, which builds on a May 2024 feasibility study, follows detailed engineering and an expanded reserve, and it described the new work as a more derisked baseline ahead of development.

Troilus expects construction to start next year, targeting first ore for September 2029 and commercial production in March 2030, while it also pointed to upcoming project financing by Dec. 31 and permitting in the first quarter of next year. The company estimated initial capital at about $1.43 billion, and it put life-of-mine operating costs at $19.21 per tonne of ore processed and all-in sustaining costs at about $1,340 per ounce of payable gold, net of copper and silver credits.
