Marsh names Matt Stadler CEO of Marsh Agency effective Jan. 1, 2027
The appointment begins Jan. 1, 2027, with David Eslick moving to chairman and both leaders reporting to Marsh Risk CEO Nick Studer.
Marsh announced that Matt Stadler will become CEO of Marsh Agency effective Jan. 1, 2027, succeeding David Eslick, who will continue as chairman. The change keeps Marsh Agency under the reporting line to Nick Studer, president and CEO of Marsh Risk, according to Risk & Insurance.
Stadler joined Marsh in 2015 after the acquisition of MHBT Inc., became CEO of the Southwest region in 2023, and was named president of Marsh Agency in 2025. Based in Dallas, he has more than 20 years of experience advising middle-market businesses on employee benefits and property and casualty insurance, the outlet said.
Marsh also said John Stanchina will succeed Stadler as president of Marsh Agency in January. Stanchina joined Marsh in 2010 as part of the acquisition of Virginia-based Thomas Rutherfoord Inc., and Marsh added that Guy Morrison will succeed Stanchina as CEO of the Mid-Atlantic region.
Beyond the leadership changes, the article also referenced broader risk and insurance themes including Munich Re’s loss prevention efforts and Travelers’ finding about cybersecurity preparedness gaps across U.S. businesses, along with Swiss Re Institute estimates on data center construction concentration risks and workers’ compensation claims becoming more complex over time.
