Americans rate China more warmly ahead of Xi state visit
Pew also found the share of US adults giving China a warm rating rose to 19.0% from 11.0% in 2021.
As Chinese President Xi Jinping prepares for a high profile state visit to the United States, a new Pew Research Centre report finds Americans’ overall view of China remains negative, though it has improved in recent years, according to SCMP Economy.
Using a “feeling thermometer” from zero to 100, Pew reported an average rating of 37 for China, up from 28 in 2021.
Pew researchers said Americans’ feelings about China have warmed despite staying cold overall, and noted that the share of US adults giving China a warm rating, defined as 51 to 100, increased from 11.0% in 2021 to 19.0% today.
