Hong Kong catering groups launch up to 30% National Day discounts

The promotion runs on October 1, aiming to draw more residents to stay in Hong Kong and spend on the public holiday.

Hong Kong’s catering industry has banded together to offer discounts of up to 30% across more than 3,800 outlets ahead of National Day on October 1, according to SCMP Economy.

Businesses including restaurants, hotels, cafes, and market stalls are rolling out deals to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Offers include meal sets at 30% off, and low-price items at food market stalls such as vegetable packs for HK$7 and seven fish balls for HK$7.

The discounts also feature promotions at hotels, including 30% reductions, as well as items like crispy chicken for HK$10 per piece and buy-one, get-one-free bun deals. Jonathan Leung Chun, a catering sector lawmaker, said more than 3,800 outlets joined the event.

The industry said the goal is to encourage more residents to stay in Hong Kong and dine during October 1, which is a public holiday.
