PLACE buys Maxwell to expand mortgage fintech services

Maxwell supports more than $130 billion in annual mortgage transactions and will continue operating independently under PLACE, with its more than 100 employees transferring over.

PLACE has acquired mortgage fintech Maxwell as part of a push to build an end-to-end homeownership ecosystem, HousingWire reports. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Maxwell serves more than 400 financial institutions and supports over $130 billion in annual mortgage transactions. The company will continue operating as an independent business, while all of its more than 100 employees join PLACE and no jobs are expected to be impacted during the transition.

The acquisition includes Maxwell technology such as a mortgage point-of-sale system, business intelligence, fulfillment, diligence, and private-label origination services. HousingWire adds that Maxwell technology touched nearly 10% of U.S. mortgage origination transactions in 2025, and that the firms cited a 20% five-year compound annual growth rate in a low-volume housing market.

PLACE said it will be able to directly serve mortgage lenders, banks, and credit unions with Maxwell’s platform, while Maxwell customers will remain on the same platform with the same support and no changes to contracts, services, or relationships. The companies also said PLACE powers hundreds of thousands of real estate professionals and touched more than 100,000 real estate transactions in 2025, estimating about 20% of U.S. homeowners are connected to its ecosystem.
