Rolls-Royce wins engine and maintenance deal for Airbus A350 jets

Rolls-Royce has agreed to supply engines for a new fleet of Airbus long-haul jets for Philippine Airlines, moving forward with a package that includes both engine delivery and ongoing maintenance, according to BBC Business.

The FTSE 100 group will provide 18 engines for nine new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft under a contract described as being worth “hundreds of millions of pounds,” though a precise value has not been confirmed.

Once finalized, the agreement also includes a maintenance package, meaning Rolls-Royce will continue servicing and monitoring the engines for the duration of their operational life.

The government welcomed the deal for expected “good quality jobs” at Rolls-Royce's Derby aerospace base, and the order was first announced as a memorandum of understanding at the Farnborough International Airshow in July.
