Virtus Data Centres secures £2.45B debt facility for expansion

The financing includes a £1.2B green capex facility and will support new capacity planned in Buckinghamshire, Slough, Italy, and Germany.

Virtus Data Centres has secured a £2.45 billion finance facility from a consortium of 13 banks led by BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, Societe Generale and Standard Chartered, according to Bisnow.

The debt package includes a £1.2 billion green capex facility available through both term and revolving tranches, which Virtus said gives it flexibility to fund expansion and support its growth plans.

Virtus said it has 18 data centres in the UK totaling more than 300 megawatts of power, with projects clustered on the outskirts of London. Its UK expansion includes building a 78 MW campus at Saunderton in Buckinghamshire and adding capacity at its London19 campus in Slough.

Beyond the UK, the company is expanding into Italy for the first time and is building a €3 billion data centre in Germany, Bisnow reported. Virtus is majority-owned by STTGDC, and Macquarie Asset Management bought a 40% stake in 2023.
