Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping ended a three-day summit on Friday that, despite efforts to project a closer relationship, produced few concrete deliverables, according to analysts, companies, and former US officials cited by SCMP Economy.
The outlet reported that observers said continued talks, and pledges to keep engaging, point to a period of relative stability compared with last year’s all-out trade war, chest-thumping, and market turmoil.
SCMP Economy also highlighted that consultancy Beacon Global Strategies managing director Sara Schuman said both countries were showing some restraint, framing the optics of Xi traveling to Washington and receiving a full state visit, including a state dinner, as the core deliverable.
