Hong Kong Stadium eyed for tennis events during Victoria Park upgrades
The government plans to keep bidding for higher level tournaments even before Victoria Park’s redeveloped centre court is ready, Sports Minister Rosanna Law said.
Hong Kong’s Sports Minister Rosanna Law Shuk-pui said Hong Kong Stadium could act as an interim venue for major tennis tournaments while the city redevelops Victoria Park’s centre court, according to remarks on a Sunday television programme.
Law said the government would seek to attract higher level tennis events even before the new Victoria Park facility is ready.
She also said the stadium already has extensive seating and enough space for a main court, secondary courts, and warm up areas, with the option of using nearby adjoining facilities.
