439,532 mainland arrivals enter Hong Kong over Mid-Autumn weekend
Hong Kong expects about 1.29 million mainland visitors during the seven-day National Day holiday, a 5.0% rise in the daily average from last year.
Mainland Chinese visitors made 439,532 arrivals into Hong Kong from last Friday to Sunday, about 440,000 trips during the Mid-Autumn Festival weekend, according to Immigration Department figures released on Monday, as reported by SCMP Economy.
That figure accounted for roughly a quarter of the 1.73 million arrivals recorded over the three-day period, and a tourism industry representative said hotel occupancy is expected to exceed 90.0% in popular districts during the upcoming National Day “golden week.”
Hong Kong’s seven-day National Day holiday begins on Thursday, and the department expected about 1.29 million mainland visitors to arrive in the city during the break, representing a 5.0% increase in the daily average from last year.
SCMP Economy also noted that mainland residents who take additional leave from Monday to Wednesday can stretch the combined holidays into a continuous 13-day break.
