CRE firms expand AI pilots but struggle to measure outcomes
A JLL survey found AI pilot usage among corporate real estate firms rose from 5% to 92% over three years, while just 5% say they hit most program goals.
Commercial real estate is adopting AI quickly, but many firms are not confident about how to use it or how to prove results, Bisnow reports. The outlet points to a gap between deployment and accountability, saying many companies can identify live AI use while failing to quantify outcomes or track performance over time.
Bisnow cites research from Apollo Global Management showing that 69% of S&P 500 companies could point to a live AI deployment in the second quarter, but only 29% could provide a number to qualify the outcome of AI usage, and just 2% track it over time. In CRE specifically, JLL's Global Real Estate Technology Survey is cited as showing AI pilots among corporate real estate firms jumping from 5% to 92% in three years.
Despite the increased adoption, Bisnow says only 5% of those surveyed report hitting most of their AI program goals. The story also describes a Walker & Dunlop example where an analyst and an AI platform called Claude worked on the same assignment, with Bisnow noting Claude completed it in about 10 minutes, though the article text cuts off before the conclusion is fully stated.
