Jordan Bardella denies antisemitism claims and files defamation suit
The lawsuit was filed after Bardella told a broadcaster that the allegations were intended to destabilize his presidential campaign.
Agence France-Presse reports that a French investigative website alleged that far-right National Rally leader Jordan Bardella made antisemitic comments in writing in 2013, but Bardella dismissed the claims as fake.
According to the report, Bardella said he formally rejected the allegations, called them crude forgeries, and later told CNews that his lawyer had filed a defamation lawsuit.
Bardella, 31, is described as a close ally of presidential front runner Marine Le Pen, and he said he believed he was being targeted to destabilize the National Rally campaign and to kill him off politically.
