Small caps surge 23% in H1 FY27, while gold and silver fall
More than half of the rally is tied to Nifty Smallcap 250 names hitting 52-week highs, with over 54% of those peaks occurring in August and September.
Small-cap stocks were the top-performing major asset class in India in the first half of FY27, with the Nifty Smallcap 250 up 23% between April and September, according to analysis in LiveMint Markets.
The outlet noted that nearly half of Nifty Smallcap 250 stocks reached 52-week highs in H1 FY27, with more than 54% of those peak levels occurring in August and September.
LiveMint Markets said the rally has outpaced the Nifty Midcap 150’s 13% gain and the Nifty 50’s 2% increase, reversing last year’s performance ranking.
The same coverage reported that gold and silver declined in H1 FY27, down 10% and 15% respectively, and warned that stretched valuations and rising global risks could leave limited room for earnings disappointment.
