Bank Nifty rises while Sensex and Nifty trade flat in morning session
WTI crude slid into the $89 to $90 per barrel range, while Brent eased toward $95 to $96 as traders watched energy risks tied to the US-Iran conflict.
India’s key benchmark indices opened mixed on Wednesday, with the Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex trading flat but slightly lower, while the Bank Nifty edged higher, according to LiveMint Markets.
In early trading, shares including Reliance Industries, State Bank of India and ICICI Bank were in positive territory, while HDFC Bank and the BSE traded in the red zone.
Oil prices were softer, with WTI crude moving into the $89 to $90 per barrel range and Brent retreating toward $95 to $96, LiveMint Markets said.
The outlet linked the price moderation to ongoing uncertainty over the US-Iran conflict and the outlook for regional energy supplies, noting that signs of recovery in crude production and improving supply flows supported crude prices.
The LiveMint Markets live chart for Gift Nifty suggested early-morning volatility, with the index trading below its previous close but above yesterday’s spot Nifty close, oscillating around 22,800 levels.
