CoreCivic names new CEO after Swindle resignation
Patrick Swindle stepped down to begin treatment for stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer, as CoreCivic updated guidance to $1.5B and reported 27% year-over-year revenue growth for the second quarter.
CoreCivic has appointed Lucibeth Mayberry as CEO and president, replacing Patrick Swindle, who resigned from the company and board to start treatment for stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer, according to Bisnow.
Mayberry also joined CoreCivic's board of directors, after Swindle took the helm on the first day of 2026, the outlet said.
CoreCivic said it has been working with the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement on facility sales and expansions, and it reported revenue up 27% year-over-year as of the second quarter.
Bisnow also noted CoreCivic updated its guidance nearly tenfold to $1.5B, citing property sales, and that as of July the company owned 41 U.S. facilities with 62,940 beds, with DHS payments including $2.2B last month for four detention centers it will continue operating.
