Liberty Mutual unit Certainly stops selling auto insurance
Certainly launched in 2019, and its website now routes shoppers to Liberty Mutual for auto quotes after the brand already pulled back from other product lines in early 2025.
Coverager reports that Certainly, Liberty Mutual’s digital insurance brand launched in 2019, has stopped offering auto insurance. The brand’s website now directs customers to Liberty Mutual to obtain a quote, and the auto insurance notice does not state when sales ended or how existing policies will be handled.
The report says the pullback follows earlier retreats from other Certainly products. In January 2025, Coverager reported the brand had stopped accepting new renters, small business, and workers’ compensation customers, while auto coverage was still available in Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin at that time.
Coverager adds that Certainly began with renters insurance in Illinois and Massachusetts, advertising simpler online coverage starting at $5 a month. It later expanded into auto and identity protection, then added small business insurance in seven states in 2020 for businesses with up to 10 employees, while the site continues to provide links for existing customers to log in, file claims, and contact support.
