NYC issues RFQ for full reconstruction of Coney Island boardwalk

ConnectCRE reports that the New York City Economic Development Corporation and the city Department of Parks and Recreation released a Request for Qualifications seeking a design-build team to lead the full reconstruction of the historic Riegelmann Boardwalk in Coney Island.

The RFQ is described as the first formal step in delivering the more than $1 billion the city has committed to rebuild the nearly century-old boardwalk.

The planned new structure is intended to be built to withstand stronger storms and rising seas, according to the report.

ConnectCRE also notes that NYCEDC said the milestone advances the city’s more than $1 billion commitment and that it expects industry teams to compete for the project.
