Oil forecasts for 2026 rise as Strait of Hormuz disruption persists
A Reuters poll of 30 economists and analysts lifted 2026 Brent to $89.05 per barrel and WTI to $83.90, citing fading expectations for shipping normalization through the Strait of Hormuz.
Analysts sharply raised their 2026 oil price forecasts as expectations for a quick return to normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have faded, according to a Reuters poll cited by OilPrice.
The September survey of 30 economists and analysts lifted the average 2026 Brent crude forecast to $89.05 per barrel, up from $85.08 just a month earlier.
The same poll increased the 2026 West Texas Intermediate (WTI) forecast to an average of $83.90 per barrel, after previously being set lower.
In the poll, the shift reflects concerns that the Hormuz disruption will keep weighing on crude transportation until shipping flows normalize.
