Tiangong camera releases Hong Kong images ahead of China’s 77th anniversary
The MUSICO remote-sensing instrument took images using four optical sensors for carbon dioxide, methane, oxygen and aerosols.
A remote-sensing camera aboard China’s Tiangong space station has released its first images of Hong Kong ahead of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, according to SCMP Economy.
The images were published by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and were captured by the MUSICO camera, a Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory developed under HKUST’s leadership, the outlet said.
SCMP Economy reports that MUSICO uses four optical sensors for carbon dioxide, methane, oxygen and aerosols, and the captured visuals include Hong Kong landforms and topographic features, as well as surrounding areas.
The camera is described as a lightweight, high-resolution, high-precision instrument for detecting point sources of carbon dioxide and methane, and SCMP Economy said the publication included a series of videos and photos showing the Hong Kong research team’s participation in China’s space program.
