AirAsia co-founder Tony Fernandes sparks debate over SIA in-flight meals

Fernandes backed his criticism with a social media post that included photos of his Singapore Airlines meal and himself on board the flight.

AirAsia co-founder Tony Fernandes sparked online backlash after criticizing Singapore Airlines’ in-flight meals, saying the food was poor compared with AirAsia’s Santan dining brand, according to SCMP Economy.

Fernandes posted on social media on Thursday, sharing photos that showed a meal he said was served on a Singapore Airlines flight, as well as an image of himself onboard, while also claiming crew members agreed the comparison favored Santan.

SCMP Economy reports that many commenters responded quickly, with some saying Santan’s food was good but arguing that passengers do not choose an airline based on meals alone, referencing Singapore Airlines by its airline code in the discussion.
