UK diesel price hits record high of £2 a litre amid Iran-war oil shock

The RAC said the average diesel price reached 200.01p a litre, lifting the cost of filling an average family car to about £110, nearly £32 more than before the Iran war began.

British motorists and small businesses are facing higher fuel bills as the UK’s average diesel price rose to a record level of £2 a litre, according to the Guardian Economics.

The article says the average price at UK forecourts reached 200.01p per litre, up 40.5% since late February, when the US-Israel war on Iran began disrupting crude and refined oil product supplies from the Gulf.

The RAC figures also indicate the cost of filling an average family car is now about £110, nearly £32 more than before the Iran war, and the report notes many forecourts have sold diesel above £2 for some time.

Petrol prices continued to rise as well, with unleaded at 174.1p per litre on average, up 31.5% over the period cited.
