Accenture earnings lift Indian IT shares, but growth outlook stays cautious

Indian IT stocks rallied after Accenture posted strong fourth-quarter results, while the Nifty IT index fell 11% in September, the sector’s worst monthly performance.

Accenture’s fourth-quarter results sent global technology shares higher, with US-listed Indian IT stocks Infosys and Wipro also rallying overnight, according to LiveMint Markets. The outlet links the positive read-through to strong bookings, accelerating adoption of advanced AI projects, and better-than-expected revenue growth.

LiveMint Markets said the reaction matters for Indian IT because Accenture is often used as a gauge of how much global enterprises are spending on technology initiatives. The company’s latest numbers pointed to a shift from AI experimentation toward larger transformation projects.

Despite the optimism, the outlook for Indian IT remains more measured, with concerns that pricing pressure, AI-led productivity gains, and subdued discretionary spending could constrain reported growth. The sector has already been under pressure, the report noted, with India’s Nifty IT index falling 11% in September, making it the worst-performing sectoral index that month.
