Indian stocks extend recovery as Fed hike expectations ease
The session saw broader buying, with mid- and small-cap stocks participating, while healthcare lagged.
Indian benchmark indices in the country extended their Monday recovery, after a strong gap-up opening, as easing expectations of an immediate US Federal Reserve rate hike improved risk appetite, according to LiveMint Markets.
The outlet cited a derivatives setup showing a put-call ratio of 0.99 and said a higher VIX at 14.775 points to increased volatility.
LiveMint Markets added that the advance was broad-based, with mid- and small-cap stocks participating alongside the benchmarks, while healthcare was the notable laggard.
It also pointed to a more supportive global backdrop, including moderating crude oil prices tied to rising exports from West Asia and expectations for a G7 release of strategic reserves.
