Lawmakers outline housing 2.0 plan to expand by-right building
The bipartisan Build America Caucus document lays out federal steps to lower building costs and expand financing tools, including FHA modernization and ADU loans.
HousingWire reports that a bipartisan Build America Caucus has released a document previewing a potential “ROAD 2.0” housing push after the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.
The document outlines three main policy avenues, including expanding where housing can be built through by-right building zones and transit-linked incentives.
It also aims to reduce the cost and delays of building homes, citing proposals for cost relief on materials and building codes, as well as federal property reuse.
On financing, the plan calls for expanded financing tools for housing projects, including FHA modernization and ADU loans, with some initiatives intended to involve or be implemented at the local level.
