Sincere set to close Central flagship store after lease talks fail
The department store’s Central branch will stop operating in early December, with reinstatement work starting after handover to the landlord.
Hong Kong’s first Chinese-owned department store, Sincere, will close its historic Central business district branch in early December after lease renewal discussions with the landlord broke down ahead of the tenancy expiring on December 31, the company said.
Sincere expects the Central store to cease operations in early December and noted that reinstatement work on the premises will begin after handover to the landlord, according to the announcement.
The company did not specify the exact final operating date for the branch, but said it would seek a new location in either Central or Sheung Wan.
SCMP Economy reported the closure is tied to the failed lease talks and Sincere’s plan to relocate within Hong Kong.
