AI model releases pile up after Xiaomi, Anthropic and OpenAI unveil new systems
On September 22, a rapid sequence of AI announcements reshaped the global landscape within hours, according to SCMP Economy. In Beijing, Xiaomi engineers went live with a broadcast streaming the training run of its MiMo-V2.6 model.
In San Francisco, Anthropic unveiled its Opus 5.5 model, about an hour earlier than OpenAI’s surprise release of its GPT-6 Sol and Luna models.
The one day barrage followed major rollouts from Z.ai, DeepSeek, Tencent Holdings, Alibaba Group Holding and Moonshot AI, underscoring how quickly companies are pushing upgrades and making it harder for any single breakthrough to dominate attention.
