McKinney’s Cannon Beach project hits construction milestone

The $200 million Cannon Beach development plans a 3.3-acre surf pool and other amenities, with construction expected to finish by March 2027.

Construction crews have completed major excavation work for Cannon Beach, a surf lagoon project in McKinney, according to ConnectCRE, citing reporting from The Dallas Business Journal.

The $200 million development, dubbed Cannon Beach, is set to include a 3.3-acre surf pool, a lazy river, cliff-jump platforms, a sandy beach and cabanas, plus restaurants, shops, an indoor action sports facility, a spa, a resort hotel and office space.

ConnectCRE reports the surf pool will cost $6 million, and that construction is expected to wrap up in March 2027, with the full development taking about four years to complete.

Once open, Cannon Beach could draw about 400,000 visitors annually and generate more than $2 billion in economic impact over the next two decades, ConnectCRE added.
