Singapore refers eight public officers to police over property review

The review began with a working paper flagging 2007 to 2011, and Singapore expanded it through 2014 due to later announced MRT station locations.

Singapore has referred eight public service officers to the police after reviewing property transactions involving 191 officers, Coordinating Minister for Public Services Chan Chun Sing told parliament, according to SCMP Economy.

The Public Service Division said the review was prompted by a US-based National Bureau of Economic Research working paper that identified 2007 to 2011 as the period of concern.

Chan said PSD extended the scope to 2014 as a matter of prudence because more MRT station locations continued to be announced after 2011.

The ministry said that based on administrative records, it identified officers in agencies involved in rail planning who bought property between 2007 and 2014 near locations later announced as MRT stations.
