Bitcoin slips below $83,000 to hit new month-to-date lows

Bitcoin fell below $83,000 at the Wall Street open as bond yields rose and oil prices climbed on US-Iran war headlines, including Brent near $102 a barrel.

Bitcoin slid below $83,000 to set new month-to-date lows after stocks reversed from all-time highs and bond yields spiked higher, according to Cointelegraph. TradingView data cited by the outlet showed BTC/USD dipping under the $83,000 level during the Wednesday Wall Street open.

Cointelegraph also linked the move to rising energy risk, saying oil gained on US-Iran war headlines. The outlet cited Brent crude around $102 per barrel and WTI crude around $91.

The story pointed to mixed signals about oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, noting that the waterway is not seeing normal flow amid US-Iran tensions. Cointelegraph included commentary indicating Iran had full control over the Strait of Hormuz until its demands are met.
