Cuba turns to solar as U.S. blockade constrains fuel imports
U.S. Census data cited by Bloomberg shows U.S. exports of solar cells and modules are rising as Cuba faces limited access to fuel.
OilPrice reports that Cuba is shifting toward solar power because a U.S. naval blockade has limited fuel from reaching the island.
The outlet says Cuba has continued to import solar technology, including solar cells and modules, from the United States despite the long running U.S. embargo.
According to OilPrice, Bloomberg earlier this week cited U.S. Census data showing that U.S. exports of solar cells and modules are increasing.
OilPrice frames the trend as strengthening the case for solar energy in Cuba, given the lack of viable alternatives for supplying power.
