Amwins expands C&I facility to cover BESS and EV charging portfolios
The expanded structure scales site-level deductibles to each location’s characteristics and follows Amwins’ BESS coverage via NARDAC since March 2024, with capacity up to $50 million per location backed by eight Lloyd’s syndicates.
Amwins Global Risks (AGR) is expanding its specialist commercial and industrial insurance facility to cover battery energy storage systems, or BESS, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, grouping distributed assets under a single program.
According to Insurance Business, the facility replaces utility-scale terms with deductibles scaled to individual site characteristics, a setup aimed at portfolios that are too large to insure site by site but not suited for utility-scale pricing terms.
The article says Amwins has offered BESS cover through NARDAC since March 2024, and that capacity is up to $50 million per location backed by eight Lloyd’s syndicates.
Insurance Business also notes that the BESS insurance market has been expanding unevenly, with some insurers restricting or withdrawing capacity after battery fires in the UK and overseas.
