Olam Agri and IDH expand sustainable agriculture partnership in Ghana
The new Ghana initiative will run through IDH’s Women in Sourcing and Enterprise program to support small and medium-sized businesses and drought-resilient wheat practices.
Olam Agri and IDH are expanding their sustainability partnership with a new initiative in Ghana under a memorandum of understanding, aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting climate-smart practices in food and agriculture, according to World Grain.
The Ghana plan is set to be launched through IDH’s Women in Sourcing and Enterprise program, with a focus on building local capacity for drought-resilient wheat varieties, improving access to market opportunities, and supporting women bakers to help drive more inclusive agricultural value chains.
The effort builds on Olam Agri and IDH’s existing collaboration in Nigeria, where the partnership has supported about 5,000 soybean farmers in Kwara State, helping strengthen agricultural practices and improve market connections to support more resilient and commercially viable farming systems.
Olam Agri and IDH said they will scale and implement country-specific plans across agricultural value chains, including areas such as farmer training, women and youth entrepreneurship, guaranteed offtake arrangements subject to quality and market conditions, and local processing and market development.
