US strikes Iran again for 10th straight night as fighting persists
The renewed conflict is also keeping pressure on oil supply routes, with Houthis declaring a maritime embargo on Saudi Arabia and a potential full closure that could remove about 7% of global oil supply.
Renewed fighting between the United States and Iran entered its second week early Tuesday, with U.S. Central Command confirming a 10th consecutive night of strikes on Iranian command centers, missile sites and air defenses, according to OilPrice.
The escalation has continued to hit oil markets, with Brent crude trading near $89 a barrel and U.S. gasoline just above $4 a gallon nationally, as supply risks expanded overnight.
OilPrice also reported that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it destroyed what it called Amazon’s central data infrastructure in Bahrain in a cruise missile strike, and said it targeted Patriot air defense batteries and a hangar housing U.S. MQ-9 drones in Kuwait. The outlet noted that neither the U.S. military nor officials in Bahrain or Kuwait had confirmed the claims by Tuesday morning.
Separately, the outlet said Yemen’s Houthis declared an immediate maritime embargo on Saudi Arabia, opening a new front near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The move targets the pipeline route Saudi Arabia has used to move crude to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, which has absorbed pressure since fighting reduced tanker traffic through Hormuz, and OilPrice cited estimates that a full closure could take about 7% of global oil supply off the market.
