European stocks rise as Brent crude falls below $100

Brent was down 4.1% to $96.63 a barrel, lifting the Stoxx Europe 600 0.5% and the FTSE 100 0.4%.

European stocks moved higher, with the Stoxx Europe 600 up 0.5% and the UKs FTSE 100 gaining 0.4%, as a weaker oil price helped sentiment.

The international benchmark Brent crude fell 4.1% to $96.63 a barrel after reaching $100 the prior day, with the earlier move tied to fears around Middle East conflict and Houthi threats to block Saudi Arabian naval ports.

The latest drop in oil followed comments by US President Donald Trump in an Axios interview, in which he said he was considering a massive attack against Iran, after the US completed a 13th consecutive night of air strikes against Iran.

Separately in the session, the coverage noted concerns about trade conditions linked to Trumps new tariffs and included warnings from the Bank of France governor about uncertainty for world trade, while China warned trade wars are not in the interest of any party.
