ByteDance folds Feishu Lark team into Doubao AI unit

The restructuring creates a new organization that combines Lark’s sales and customer service staff with its Volcano Engine cloud unit.

ByteDance has integrated its enterprise collaboration business into its broader AI product structure, as it pursues corporate customers, according to an internal memo seen by the South China Morning Post.

The memo said ByteDance merged the product team behind its Lark office suite, known as Feishu in China, into the product team for its Doubao AI chatbot. The combined unit would be led by Zhao Qi, while David Xie Xin, CEO of the Lark unit, would report to Zhao.

The changes also restructure supporting functions, with Lark’s sales, marketing and customer service staff to be merged into the cloud unit Volcano Engine to form a new department covering model-as-a-service and software-as-a-service offerings, along with other cloud services. Tan Dai, Volcano Engine president, would lead the new team.

Separately, Lark’s development and infrastructure team would be merged into Flow, a division focused on AI applications. ByteDance said the moves are intended to build stronger AI product competitiveness and customer service capabilities.
