Diesel drops as 30-year Treasury yield hits a 19-year high
Distillates were down 2.75 cents early Tuesday, with thin trading volume around 2,000 spot-month contracts and 3,000 in the first deferred issue.
The commodities complex saw limited turnaround activity early Tuesday, with diesel fuel moving lower as the 30-year US Treasury yield held at a 19-year high amid continued inflation fears, according to Yahoo Finance.
In early trading, distillates were down 2.75 cents and near the session low, though trade volume was light, with the spot-month issue at about 2,000 contracts traded and the first deferred issue around 3,000 contracts.
Elsewhere in energy, WTI crude oil was holding above $85 and Brent was north of $91 in the pre-dawn window, while gold and silver were under pressure after Monday rallies.
US stock index futures were lower before the open, extending Monday’s selloff, and the piece linked the cautious tone to climbing Treasury yields.
