Iranian official pushes back on claims its economy is collapsing

CNBC reports a former adviser to Iran's central bank said economic deterioration is tied to mounting sanctions, but insisted the economy has not fully unraveled.

CNBC reports that amid President Donald Trump’s comments claiming Iran’s economy is collapsing, a former adviser to Iran’s central bank in Tehran pushed back on the characterization.

According to CNBC, the adviser said Iran’s economic conditions have been deteriorating under the weight of mounting sanctions.

The former central bank adviser argued that while sanctions are intensifying pressures, they have not driven the economy into full collapse, describing it instead as deteriorating but not unraveling.
