AstraZeneca to pay $600 million upfront for global Zegfrovy rights
The deal with Dizal Pharmaceuticals includes potential total value of $1.5 billion tied to development, regulatory, and sales milestones, plus tiered royalties on global Zegfrovy sales.
AstraZeneca is set to expand its lung cancer portfolio by acquiring global rights to Zegfrovy from Dizal Pharmaceutical, paying $600 million upfront for the agreement, according to Yahoo Finance.
The potential value of the transaction rises to $1.5 billion, as Dizal could also receive an additional $900 million if development, regulatory, and sales milestones are met, with Dizal receiving tiered royalties on global Zegfrovy sales.
Zegfrovy, also known as sunvozertinib, is an oral treatment approved in the United States and China for certain adults with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations whose disease has progressed on or after platinum-based chemotherapy.
Under the agreement, AstraZeneca will handle global development and commercialization, and the drug is supported by late-stage comparative data from the Phase III WU-KONG28 trial showing median progression-free survival of 10.3 months versus 7.5 months for chemotherapy.
