Genius Sports leases 53,000 sq ft in Vornado’s 1290 Avenue of the Americas

The London-based company will expand from its 28,000-square-foot West Chelsea offices under a 10-year lease at an asking rent of $99 per square foot.

Sports analytics and technology company Genius Sports is relocating its U.S. headquarters to 1290 Avenue of the Americas in New York, Commercial Observer reports. The London-based firm signed a new 10-year lease with Vornado Realty Trust covering 53,000 square feet across part of the tower’s sixth floor. Asking rent was $99 per square foot, according to The Real Deal, and Newmark negotiated the deal for Genius Sports while Vornado was represented in-house.

Commercial Observer says the move represents a major upgrade from Genius Sports’ existing 28,000-square-foot West Chelsea office at 512 West 22nd Street. Genius Sports’ arrival helps bring the building to 95 percent occupancy.

The 43-story, full-block property between 51st and 52nd streets is anchored by investment management firm Neuberger Berman and recently underwent a $45 million renovation updating the lobby and building amenities. Vornado owns 70 percent of the building, with the Trump Organization holding a passive 30 percent stake, and the article notes several other recent tenants and leases at the tower.
