Bitcoin ETFs lose $201.9 million and end a nine-day inflow streak
Friday’s $201.9 million withdrawal followed Bitcoin’s Aug. 28 drop of about 3.2% to $77,696, while Ethereum, XRP, and Solana ETFs drew a combined $145 million.
US-listed Bitcoin exchange-traded funds lost $201.9 million on Friday, bringing an end to a nine-day inflow streak, according to CryptoSlate. The pullback contrasted with continued demand for other major crypto ETF products, which attracted cash during the same session.
CryptoSlate reports that Ethereum, XRP, and Solana ETFs drew a combined $145 million in net inflows, highlighting that the weakness was concentrated in Bitcoin rather than across the broader US crypto ETF market. The outlet also notes that fund-level data does not show whether investors directly rotated from Bitcoin into other assets.
Friday’s move coincided with weaker price action, with Bitcoin falling about 3.2% to close near $77,696 on Aug. 28, while reported trading volume rose to roughly $39.47 billion from $34.03 billion. Despite the one-day reversal, Bitcoin ETFs still logged about $924.5 million of net inflows across the five sessions through Aug. 28.
CryptoSlate adds that ARK 21Shares’ ARKB led Friday withdrawals with $114.9 million, followed by Bitwise’s BITB at $49.7 million, while BlackRock’s IBIT lost $33.4 million and VanEck’s HODL shed $13.2 million. Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin Trust saw a $9.3 million inflow that partly offset those redemptions, and the broader Bitcoin ETF complex remains far larger than newer crypto ETF peers.
