Zara expands to a 45,000-square-foot flagship at Los Cerritos Center

The new store will open next year, while the existing Zara location stays open during construction at Macerich’s Los Cerritos Center.

Zara is more than doubling its space at Macerich’s Los Cerritos Center in southeast Los Angeles County, expanding from 22,000 square feet to 45,000 square feet for a flagship that is slated to open next year, according to Commercial Observer.

Macerich said the current Zara store will remain open during construction at the 239 Los Cerritos Center property near the L.A. and Orange county border.

The expansion is part of a broader wave of leasing at the center, which already lists major tenants including Apple, Nordstrom, lululemon and Harkins Theatres.

Commercial Observer also noted Macerich’s reported 94 percent occupancy rate after the second quarter this year, and that the REIT owns 39 million square feet across 37 retail centers, with significant exposure in California and other regional markets.
